The Mongers of Denial. By Eamon

No….this is not a Muslim who got carried away!

I have never had any interest in phychology,  i always thought it was intellectual goobledegoop, but the stuff i keep dragging up on Wiki is amazing as it totally sums up in a rational way why people do the things they do. Especially disciples and ex-disciples. This post is about ex-disciples and denial.

The final bus stop on the route to ignorance is surely denial. Sigmund Freud describes denial as a defense mechanism in which a person is faced with a fact that is too uncomfortable to accept and rejects it it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence. Anna Freud who first took the subject seriously, classifies denial as a mechanism of an immature mind.

Other interesting subjects i have dug up that are related; Falsifiablity- which is the logical possiblity that an assertion can be shown false by an observation. Hmmmmmmmm interesting!

How about self-deception. Self-deception is the process of denying away the relevance or importance of opposing evidence. Self-deception involves convincing oneself of a lack of truth so that one does not reveal any self knowledge of the deception.

Once in a blue moon i drop over at the ex-disciple forum for a peek. The forces that swim around there are the forces of denial, self deception and falsifiablity. The denial over on that site can only be described as hyper. They indulge in complete spiritual denial. The denial of spiritual masters, denial of the spiritual realm, denial of spiritual experiences, denial of the benefits of meditation and finally the grand daddy of all denials- denial of the inner world!

By sheer observation from the start of Sri Chinmoys life to the finish, one sees no indication what so ever of falsifications that the ex-disciple forum promulgates. Thats why i don’t buy the propogander they put forward. His life from start to finish was consistent i found. The clincher is his consciousness, by sheer spiritual observation one can see he maintained from start to finish his “Transcendental Consciousness”. Observation alone is enough for me. At the same time, the energy over at the ex-d forum is indescribably foul and totally negative. Logic alone is enough to deduct from the negative energy on that site, that the allegations that they trumpet are mere self indulgent denialisms.

Self propagander is an art the ex-disciple forum have perfected. Self-propagander is the act of telling one’s self (or a group telling them selves)  soemthing they consider to be true, or to convince themselves to be true, with the unfortunate repercussion of their having no doubts. Because of the ignorance they create, they will go over every aspect of their side of the argument to prove to themselves that they are right, and refuse to look at any alternatives. Self-propagander is a form of self-deception!

The psychological process of utilizing self-propagander can negatively influence values and beliefs and subsequent perceptions and judgements, thus becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. Pretty wild hey! Thats what the small and ultra negative Sri Chinmoy ex-disciple forum are expert at, self-propagander.

So why all the psychology you ask? When you can solidify intellectually ignorance, when you can bring it down to its basic form and rationalize it, then you can confront it and cut it to pieces.

Its nice to be able to step back once in a while and take a purely psychological look at the forces that operate in and out of the Sri Chinmoy centre.

As always i will let Ckg have the last word…..

Self-denial is not and cannot be

The cure for selfishness,

For self-denial in itself

Is unconscious, if not pretentious,

Selfishness.

Self-denial is not life’s satisfaction.

Self-acceptance for self-transcendence

Is the answer,

The only answer. Ckg

And……..

Be not a victim

Of your heart’s self-denial

And your mind’s self-betrayal. Ckg

…………………..Pretentious selfishness…………that pretty much sums it up hey!

Love,

Eamon

A lot of people practice self-denial, whether they be ex-disciples or not. Most people deny themselves the opportunity to discover their spiritual selves. When approached, they hide, they bury their heads in the sand, afraid of looking up. Only in sheer desperation, when life practically kills them, will they dare to look beyond the finite. But some day, everyone will wake up. It is just a matter of time. And God has all the time in the world. (But I bet He sighs when he sees all the lost opportunities.)

I bet the biggest sighs are when chosen instruments are total failures.

I agree. Those who were chosen, hand-picked by God to manifest in this lifetime, still have the choice whether to say yes or no to God. A total surrender is needed. Not many egos are willing to release and go with God. Many are called but few are chosen… and even fewer are able to go the whole distance.

Thats the bit that gets me…..out of all the souls on the planet, only a few reach the
Avatar, and of these few, maybe one or two achieve realisation

It reminds me of baby turtles, trying to reach the ocean before some predator snaps them up. Their odds are not very good. In our case, it’s not usually an outside predator but the mind itself, playing with illusion, convincing the person to stay safe, not to take a step outside its own domain. It’s a rough world out there. But it’s even rougher when you don’t accept God’s mission for you. I would rather die trying than die unwilling to let go.
